Readings from Sahih Al-Bukhari
2012 Fall
NOTE: Starting Nov. 4, class runs from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm.
Imam Bukhari’s Book of Sahih has been hailed as the most authoritative work of Islam, second only to the Quran, and as such it merits careful study by all students of Islamic knowledge. This highly esteemed book has been composed for guided study with a trained teacher. Accordingly, Muslims throughout history have followed and continued this tradition in a remarkable fashion. We are, therefore, offering this course for all lovers of Prophetic traditions. In this first of a series, we seek to introduce the author and work in the context of other works of Hadith, followed by a detailed study of the first two books, based on the authentic commentaries by reputed scholars of Islam. Students must bring their copy of Sahih al-Bukhari (the first volume).
