Imam Abu Ja'far al-Tahawi (239-321 A.H), was a brilliant scholar of hadith and fiqh; he has authored a number of influential works that have been highly cherished by scholars. His reputed work on aqidah, commonly known as al-aqidah ai-tahawiyyah, has received wide acclaim from scholars belonging to all the leading schools of jurisprudence throughout centuries. Considered  as the best concise, and yet comprehensive, statement  of all the essential points of the Islamic creed as cherished and adhered  to by  the  majority  of  Muslims throughout  centuries, it stays  clear  of  the  various  deviations  that  have crept  into  Muslims throughout  the ages. A study of this work is bound to improve our understanding of the pure Islamic doctrine as cherished by Muslims throughout the ages.
